About Chapel Street Group

Chapel Street was founded to provide what most communications agencies cannot: genuine senior counsel from start to finish. No delegation to junior teams. No account management layers. The people who shape the strategy are the people who execute it.

We work with boards, CEOs, and senior leadership teams on the communications challenges where the stakes are real — market repositioning, leadership transitions, crisis response, regulatory scrutiny, and complex stakeholder environments. Our clients span energy, defence, culture, and talent, across the UK and internationally.

Our model is deliberately lean. We bring in specialist expertise — content production, data science, creative direction — through established partnerships, scaling to fit the engagement rather than maintaining overhead. The result is faster response times, sharper strategic thinking, and work that is genuinely bespoke.

The team

Chapel Street brings together senior communications professionals with backgrounds in national journalism, FTSE corporate affairs, employee engagement, brand strategy, and government relations. What connects them is a shared belief that communications should be a strategic lever — not a support function.

Adam Powell — Founder & Managing Director

Adam founded Chapel Street to provide the kind of senior, embedded communications counsel that large agencies structurally cannot. He leads the firm’s major client programmes, working directly with boards and leadership teams on strategic communications, media strategy, and reputation management.

Adam has over 25 years of experience spanning journalism and corporate communications at the highest level. He has focused extensively on capital markets communications — supporting fundraising, investor engagement, and reputation building for fast-growing businesses, global asset managers, and alternative investment firms. His sector experience spans energy, defence, sport, culture, and talent.

Previously Managing Director and partner at Fourtold, Head of Corporate at Ogilvy PR, partner at Bell Pottinger, and Head of Press at the CBI.

Tim Woodward — Media Relations

Tim brings nearly 15 years of frontline national newspaper experience to Chapel Street’s media relations practice, most recently as City Editor of the Sunday Telegraph. He understands how newsrooms work, what editors want, and how to shape a story that lands.

After leaving journalism, Tim became Director of Corporate Communications at Capita plc, giving him the in-house perspective that complements his editorial instincts. At Chapel Street, he advises on media strategy and planning, and leverages a deep personal network across the UK’s business, financial, and national press to place stories on behalf of clients.
